Help Your Kids Catch Fish!!!
Posted on September 2nd, 2008 by outdoorsportsman
There is nothing like helping a youth catch their first fish, or any fish for that matter. The feeling that you get when you look down and see that ear-to-ear smile is unlike any feeling that you have ever felt. Here are some friendly reminders on how you can make you and your youths fishing experience one that they and you will never forget…
- Pack plenty of snacks and cold drinks
- Choose a spot that is close to home
- Make sure that the restrooms are near your spot
- Morning trips are best – the fish bite better and kids have more energy
- Pick a sunny day with moderate temperatures
- Keep the trip short – a couple of hours at most
- Leave your fishing rod at home – giving the youth your full attention
- Emphasize that fishing is fun – catching the fish is just a bonus
- Take plenty of breaks from fishing
- Have fun
- Take plenty of pictures
- Plan alternative activities if the weather gets bad or if the youth get bored
- Remember that you are taking them – they are not taking you
Hopefully if you remember this list of things to do, you will make your fishing trip with your youth one that nobody will ever forget!!
